Konnie Newbro
Executive Director
As Executive Director of Haku Baldwin Center, Konnie brings a wealth of experience, visionary leadership, and a lifelong passion for horses to our organization. Her journey with horses began at the age of 8, cultivating a deep-rooted love that has shaped both her personal and professional life.
With a background in marketing communications, strategic planning, project management, and business operations, Konnie oversees the management of our Equine Boarding Facility, Therapeutic Riding Programs, and Commercial Rental Properties. Her equestrian expertise is informed by the teachings of renowned horsemen Tom Dorrance, Ray Hunt, and her friend Buck Brannaman, reflecting her belief that the relationship with horses is a lifelong journey without end.
Konnie's impressive career began at McCann-Erickson San Francisco, where she rose to the position of Vice President. There, she led key functions including Talent Acquisition and Management, Creative Services, Business Development, and Account Management, delivering high-profile projects for clients such as AT&T Wireless Services, Oracle, Hewlett Packard, and Sony Vaio Computers.
A graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, Konnie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Project Management certificate from Cornell University. Her commitment to community service extends beyond her professional role, as she currently serves on the Board of the Pacific Cancer Foundation.
Under Konnie's guidance, Haku Baldwin Center continues to thrive and expand its impact. Her leadership, combined with her profound understanding of the horse-human connection, ensures that we remain dedicated to our mission of enriching and nurturing the human spirit through transformative equine-assisted experiences, providing individuals with meaningful opportunities for education, growth, and discovery.
Since 2009, Chrissy has been dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals in our Maui community through her exceptional work at Haku Baldwin Center. As the driving force behind our Equine Assisted Services, Chrissy's expertise and passion have been instrumental in shaping the center's impactful programs.
Chrissy brings a wealth of specialized training and certifications to her role. She is a seasoned practitioner in Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy for PTSD (EAP-PTSD), Equine-Assisted Services for Heroes®, and Equine-Assisted Learning.
Chrissy's unique approach emphasizes the importance of mindfulness for both humans and equines, ensuring the transformative power of these therapies is fully realized. In addition to her equine expertise, she holds certifications as a HeartMath® Mentor and Children's Mindfulness Coach, as well as being a certified Horse Powered Reading® Facilitator.
Through her unwavering commitment and exceptional skills, Chrissy has become a driving force behind Haku Baldwin Center's mission to enrich and nurture the human spirit. Her ability to foster deep connections between participants and our equine partners empowers individuals to unlock their full potential, overcome challenges, and experience profound healing and growth.
