Stories of Impact
Our programs touch the lives of children, families, and our community in meaningful ways. Here, parents share what they have experienced through their children’s participation — moments of growth, learning, and hope made possible through horses.
“I didn't expect my son to ride the horse, or stay on the horse for the ride, nor did I expect him to follow your instructions. He now looks forward to the riding, and loves horses. Being kind to animals is great for him to learn. It helps him calm down and be patient.”

“We have seen improvements in his confidence and positive attitude! He can do what others do and it makes him feel so good! He actually will talk and discuss with others about his sessions!”

“The staff are so helpful, kind, patient. They work on turning and strengthening trunk of the body, using written signs to help my daughter learn stop and go since she is non-verbal. She is now learning she is in charge of giving the horse direction, by tapping on the horse’s mane to go, turn left or right, and stopping. These are skills she can use in everyday life. There is much more to learn and grow, we look forward to continuing and are so grateful for this opportunity.

“Throughout each session, my son progressed with his head control, tone, and his spasticity decreased. He is following prompts. Riding brings him joy, which makes our family so happy for him. We appreciate the staff, volunteers and horses at Haku Baldwin Center! Thank you for the all the hard work and love you provide to the special needs community!”
